Testimony From the Ground (Sunday, October 29, 2017 @ Memorial Chapel from 11:00-12:30pm, ):  Nearly a month since hurricane Maria ravaged through Puerto Rico, conditions on the island remain dire. Residents remain without electricity and water, receiving little attention from government, and depending on donations and the kindness of family and other active citizens determined to be responsive to the ongoing crisis. Wes alum, anthropology major, Melissa Rosario ‘05 has been in San Juan for nearly a year working to develop CEPA (Center for Embodied Pedagogy and Action), an intentional community committed to alternative ecologies and healing justice, which she founded.   Melissa Rosario will be on campus October 28th & 29th hold two events.  "Testimony From the Ground" on Sunday 10/29 is open to everyone and will feature stories of an immediate community facing the challenges of hurricane Maria and examples of solidarity in motion.  This visit is being generously funded by COE and Anthropology. Co-sponsors include: African American Studies, Allbritton, Center for American Studies, Green Fund, History and the Resource Center.
